Pogo Alert and Pogodrive, plug and play satellite navigation and driver information system. posted 20:08 - 2nd Dec 2008

The Pogo Drive and Pogo Alert Driver Safety and Information Systems are the most technologically advanced products on the market and provide the driver with a comprehensive range of speed management information in a user friendly format, the breadth and depth of which no other single system can provide.
Pogo Alert warns motorists of approaching speed cameras, accident blackspots, schools, congestion charge zones, mobile police laser traps and safety camera vans.

Pogo Drive does everything the Pogo Alert does, but also provides advanced touch-screen street-level navigation with a full seven digit postcode search facility
When in proximity of a hazard both products have high resolution screens with enhanced graphics showing: direction of vehicle travel, vehicle speed, speed limit, type of hazard, road number and a progress bar with a countdown to the hazard in meters and seconds. Verbal warnings are issued immediately stating hazard type and road speed limit.

The systems provide:
User definable and programmable setting for over-speed warnings.

User definable and programmable individual way point identification

School proximity warning mode which only issues alerts during primary and secondary school active hours and term schedules

Congestion Charging Camera warning mode that alerts the driver as the vehicle approaches congestion charging zones during active hours

Driver Information System which calculates valuable information such as distance covered, average speed and journey time

GPS co-ordinate display to assist emergency or breakdown services to identify your location

Directional feature so that warnings are only provided for speed traps positioned in the direction of vehicle travel

Limitator feature that triggers warnings only when the vehicle is exceeding the posted legal speed limit

Motorway feature that only provides warnings on the motorway network and not on adjacent road networks

Now is the time to become a safer and more speed aware driver. Better speed management protects your life and the lives of others, protects your livelihood and your driving licence from penalty points.

THB Bury Hands Free Car Kits posted 19:47 - 2nd Dec 2008

THB Bury UNI System 8 hands free car kit with its Take&Talk Cradle System

THB Bury the market leader in the field of fixed hands-free devices, now introduces an innovative and extremely flexible product range. The UNI System 8 series is the ideal answer to the individual needs of drivers requiring a high quality mobile communication system for the car, regardless of whether travelling for professional or private reasons.
Making and receiving phones calls in the car without a hands-free kit is not only illegal and dangerous, it can also prove extremely expensive. A fine and points on one’s driving license are the penalty that has to be paid when caught driving at the same time as holding a mobile phone to one’s ear. For this reason alone, it is recommended that a state-of-the-art hands-free kit is fitted in the vehicle of any driver who either wants or has to use a phone during the journey.
With its impressive voice and audio quality when making hands-free phone calls in the car, CarTalk cannot fail to impress even the most sophisticated of users. However, that’s not all it has to offer: as it is fully integrated into the comprehensive UNI System 8 from THB Bury, all specific Take&Talk cradles for this system can be easily docked to the fixed base set of the CarTalk. In addition, in conjunction with data-compatible mobile telephones, it supports connections to notebooks or PDAs via a data cable (available as accessory). This transforms any vehicle into a mobile office with all important communication connections. The CarTalk also has an integrated junction box for using the vehicle’s internal loudspeaker.

The key to the universal UNI System 8 – is the Take&Talk cradle. The Take&Talk cradles can be installed for the THB UNI System 8 without either wires or tools in a matter of seconds, with just a few flicks of the wrist. When docking, all the necessary connections are carefully and safely made between the hands-free kit and the Take&Talk cradle. As a result of the great flexibility of the UNI System 8, there are numerous advantages for the user, for example, customized cradles for all leading makes of mobile phone and the system can be continuously expanded. In addition, several mobile phones can be used in the same Take&Talk Holder cradle. This helps to save costs. UNI System 8 also proves just as simple to use and low-cost when several employees with different mobile phones are sharing a car. For each mobile phone, all that is needed is the appropriate Take&Talk cradle that, before commencing the journey, can be quickly and safely docked to the hands-free device.

For more information/ quotation for the THB Bury hands free car kits, please email us and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Pairing a Blackberry to a Bluetooth hands free car kit. posted 19:43 - 2nd Dec 2008

Please Note that this procedure only requires to be carried out once. Then each time you switch on your vehicle, the car kit will automatically connect to the Blackberry. These options may vary on different models of Blackberry Handsets, but the method is the same.

On the Main Menu Display/ Options of the Blackberry – Go To Bluetooth Settings and Select.

Make Sure Bluetooth is Switched On.

Then, under Bluetooth Settings/ Set Up, Select “Search for New Device”.

Once the search has finished, all of the devices found will be displayed.

Select the Device you wish for your Blackberry to connect to.

You will be prompted to enter the Bluetooth Pairing Code. This code will be found in the manual for the device. But, the following codes generally apply:

1. THB Bury Bluetooth Pairing Code – 1234.
2. Parrot CK3000/ CK3100 Bluetooth Pairing Code – 1234.
3. Parrot 3200LS Bluetooth Pairing Code – “This will
be displayed on the screen of the hands free car kit during the
pairing process”.

Once the Pairing Code has been entered, Press Select to complete the Pairing/ Connection. You may see a prompt on the display stating \\\'Allow Connection\\\', select \\\'Yes\\\'. If the Blackberry is connected to a Parrot hands free car kit, the handset should start to synchronise the telephone numbers from the Blackberry to the Parrot hands free car kit.

Whilst still in the Bluetooth Settings on the Blackberry, and under “Paired devices”, Go To “Car Kit/ Device” which you have just paired the Blackberry to, and Select this Device.

Go To Device Properties and Select.

Quick Fix/ Problem Solving posted 19:31 - 2nd Dec 2008

On completion of your installation, if you experience any problems with the operation of the equipment which has been installed by Euro Link Comms or with your vehicle, please read the following information.

1/ THB Bury Universal Hands Free Car Kit. When placing the handset into the cradle, you should notice after a few seconds that the handset should start a “charge cycle” and a “hands free” profile logo appear on the display of the mobile phone.

If when placing your handset into the cradle of the hands free car kit, there is no audio from the speaker/ door speakers of the vehicle, the handset does not charge, audio feed back during calls, if the cradle uses a Bluetooth connection and the phone does not connect to the car kit, please try the following:

Make sure that the cradle is connected to the car kit holder securely. This can be done by attempting to lift the cradle off of the holder. If the cradle slides upwards, the cradle is not making proper connection with the car kit. But if the cradle does not move, the cradle is connected securely. To confirm that the cradle is correctly fitted to the holder, on the right side of the cradle and towards the top, there is a single button which when pressed releases the cradle from the holder. Slide the cradle upwards and away from the holder. To refit the cradle, place the curved edge on the rear of the cradle onto the sprung loaded curved edge of the holder. Using slight upward pressure, slide the cradle onto the holder and then push the cradle flat to the holder and slide downwards until the cradle clicks into place.

Try switching the handset off for a few seconds. This allows the software of the handset to reload and power up correctly. It is recommended to switch the handset off for a period of time on a regular basis. Make sure that the Bluetooth is activated and switched on. Also, if you have access to another compatible handset, try this handset on your hands free car kit.

2/ Parrot 3200LS/ CK3100 Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kits. All Parrot hands free car kits use Bluetooth connectivity. The hands free car kit will be wired into the vehicle’s ignition system so that each time you switch the vehicle on, the car kit automatically searches for the paired device.

If when switching your vehicle on, the hands free car kit does not power up, the handset does not connect to the hands free car kit or the handset does not synchronise the phone contacts, please try the following:

When it is safe to do so, switch your vehicle off for a few seconds before restarting the vehicle. Then, as above, try switching the handset off for a few seconds. This allows the software of the handset to reload and power up correctly. It is recommended to switch the handset off for a period of time on a regular basis. Make sure that the Bluetooth is activated and switched on. Also, try to pair another handset to the Parrot hands free car kit.

When pairing a new handset/ device for the first time, the majority of hand sets can be paired in the following way. With the Parrot Bluetooth car kit powered up, Go to the Bluetooth setting for the handset/ device and switch Bluetooth On. Then select “Search for Audio Enhancement”, “Pair with New Device” (this instruction will vary on all devices), once the handset has found the Parrot hands free car kit, press “Select”. With the Parrot CK3100 (the display is rectangle, with a grey back ground and black lettering), the Bluetooth pairing code will be 1234. With the Parrot 3200LS (the display is square, and in full colour), the Bluetooth pairing code will be displayed on the coloured screen. Enter these codes into the handset/ device, and the handset should connect and start to synchronise the telephone numbers (on some handsets, the synchronisation of the telephone numbers may not be supported) between the handset and the Parrot hands free car kit.

If the problem continues, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will arrange a service call out to rectify the problem.

Final Call For Drivers Using Hand-Held Mobiles! posted 15:05 - 24th Jun 2003

Road Safety Minister David Jamieson announced today that from December 1, 2003, that driving whilst using a hand-held mobile phone will be a specific offence.

Initially offenders will be subject to a £30.00 fine, which can be increased to a maximum fine of £1000.00 if the matter goes to court. The Government is planning legislation to make it an endorsable offence, meaning drivers will get three points on their license each time they are caught holding a phone.

Employers will be liable if they require employees to commit the offence. Use of a hand-held phone to call 999/112 for a genuine emergency whilst driving will be exempt.

The Department for Transport sets out the new law as follows: "The use of a hand-held phone or similar hand-held divice while driving will be prohibited. A hand-held device is something that is or must be held at some point during the coarse of making or receiving a call, or performing any other interactive communication function. Provided that a phone can be operated without holding it, then hands-free equipment is not prohibited by the new regulation".

For further information relating to this news, please contact us.

What are the legal implications of using a mobile phone whilst driving posted 16:15 - 18th Jun 2003

The Motor Vehicles (prohibition on the use of hand-held mobile telephones) Bill, as presented to the House of Commons on 14 November 2001 has ended consultation with the Department of Transport during November 2002.

The Department of Transport propose the 'Prohibition' of the use of mobile telephones whilst driving unless you have a 'Professionally Fitted Hard Wired Hands Free Car Kit' permantly installed into your vehicle.

It is expected that this will be passed as law during the middle part of 2003.

This law has already come into affect in Germany, Holland, Southern Ireland and Italy. Penalties include fines, driving bans and even jail sentences.

With over 35 million users of mobile telephones in the UK, it is clear that mobile phones are a popular and important means of communications. The technology has, and will continue to revolutionise the way people live their lives and companies do their business.

Euro Link Communications will endeavour to keep you up to date with any legislation announcements as and when they occur. More importantly we will ensure that you know how to purchase a car kit that meets the legislative requirements so that you can continue to stay in touch whilst driving without compromising on safety.

High Standards, Quality, Value for Money and Safety are the key features by which we compete.
